Its obvious............
for example:
sachin tendulkar->tendulkar
rahul dravid->dravid
ie initials

Rishitha , Tanvi said: (May 16, 2011)
Because everyone doesn't have middle names.

Baljot said: (Jun 5, 2011)
Thanks to all for make me sentence clear. Without your example sentence cannot be completed.

Divya said: (Jun 26, 2011)
The thing is we have to replace short names .For that only two options are available 1 and 4 most of them don't have middle names and so the only option is 1

Raj said: (Aug 20, 2011)
Bapu and tendulkar are not initials my friends..

Eg.-- SRK is the initial for Shah Rukh Khan....got it?

Shahed said: (Aug 24, 2011)
An example of raj is perfect.

Narottam said: (Aug 27, 2011)
Raj's example is perfect.

I think Rishitha, Tanvi's answer explanation is correct. Because somebody don't have middle name.

Pothuri Divya said: (Mar 11, 2012)
For every person there will be a initial before or after their names, names are so common but the initials they have may not be common. So, we can easily recognize a person with their initials.

Chaitanya said: (Mar 18, 2012)
Offcourse but it is not a rule to call all with intials. I want more clarity if any one please. And we have to correct the sentence only. According to my view it doesn't have any correction. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Gaurav said: (Nov 23, 2013)
@Chaitanya is absolutely right friends. Initial is the person's original name. Such as Sachin for Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar and Neil for Neil Nitin Mukesh. Rest all are second name/ father's name/ surname etc. I would like to correct Raj also. SRK is not initial. It is just a short form just as Viru for Virendra Sehwag. Viru is also not initial. It is also not necessary that initial must be written in beginning of name. Tendulkar Sachin can also be written. But it doesn't make 'Tendulkar' initial. Initial will always be 'Sachin'. @Pothuri Divya is right. But dear Divya! Initials are also common. Such as your name Divya or mine Gaurav :).

Dear sir, tell me what the difference between short and initial?

Ravinder Singh said: (Mar 22, 2014)
Thanks to define me because I was thinking initial means abbreviation.

Ravindar Reddy said: (Sep 16, 2014)
I want more clarity about initial and short names can anyone explain this with one example.

Divi said: (Sep 29, 2014)
Why picture is not a answer?

Anumula Ravindar Reddy said: (Oct 8, 2014)
I think initials means starting letter of their names like NANDAMURI TARAKA RAMARAVU as N.T.R, AKKINENI NAGESWARA RAO as A.N.R and ANUMULA RAVINDAR REDDY as A.R.R .

Signature and picture and middle names are not the answers so initial is the answer.

Initials means, for example, we call Mahendra Sing Dhoni as M.S.Dhoni. Here M.S.Dhoni is an initial for his name.

Fahim said: (Oct 6, 2016)
Friends initials are nothing but surnames we use before our names.

EX: MD. Abbas OR Mohammed Abbas, here the initial is Mohammed.

Sarathi Mallick said: (Nov 19, 2016)
Initial is nothing but "surnames" before name which we usually use.

Chandan said: (Nov 26, 2016)
What is the problem for using short name?

Sanjib said: (Jan 16, 2017)
Initial means the first part; this can be the first letters.

Ex: MSD is the initials for Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

Kishor Koralli said: (Apr 11, 2017)
Initial is correct answer because name comes with initials hence it is the right answer.

Deepak Sharma said: (Sep 6, 2017)
Initials mean the first name. Can't it be signatures?

As all famous person are remembered by their signatures it doesn't mean sign but by their signature habits or moves like wrestlers in WWE are known by their signature moves, Sir Sachin Tendulkar is also remembered by his signature move.

So can't it be option B.

Bhavya said: (Jul 5, 2018)
Why not option C?

Deekshitha said: (Jul 12, 2018)
I agree @Gourav.

Jayeeta said: (Apr 10, 2019)
What is the meaning of initial?

Teme said: (Oct 9, 2019)
Initial Mean At The Beginning The First.

Raksh said: (Nov 2, 2019)
Ans: Initials.

Ex: APJ Sir means automatically our mind goes to Abdul Kalam sir.

So always initials are the best one to identify a person.
