When we are stating, " this is one of the most important. ".
This refers as singular, therefore it should be invention instead of inventions.

The sentence carries the single meaning to the invention - "this is one".
To leave it as is should of been - this is one of the most important out of the inventions of this century.

As the above sentence contains the phrase " this is one ..." , so later the word Inventions should be changed to Invention ( the first option )[A]

Actually. If the sentence containing the words " one of the" will always take plural form like.

Invention is a countable noun and after "one of the" we should always use plural noun. For this it must be inventions.
