Yes, this is in the simple present when the third person is coming. So, Does is used.

Generally, there are a lot of opinions to the reader but according to the rule, if principle clause is in the present tense, the sub-ordinate clause is also in the present tense. Here sentence denotes profession of the child.

Not sure why most of the people say it is "does".
I suppose it should be "did".
The small child does whatever his father "DID".
Because the action of the kid is after the completion of father's action or while processing it.
Correct me if I'm wrong.
