According to me the correct answer - emeritus, an adjective, meaning honourably discharged from service.
Retired (A.L.D) Oxford- means the fact of stopping work because you have reached a particular age.

Retired means also discharge from service and during retirement a person is honored. So I think the answer is retired.

Emeritus means that he is still serving and this is because of honour. So I think emeritus is correct.
