According to me the correct answer - emeritus, an adjective, meaning honourably discharged from service.

Retired (A.L.D) Oxford- means the fact of stopping work because you have reached a particular age.

Retired means also discharge from service and during retirement a person is honored. So I think the answer is retired.

Emeritus means that he is still serving and this is because of honour. So I think emeritus is correct.

Retired but retaining an honorary title corresponding to that held immediately before retirement: a professor emeritus.

Retired should be the right option.

As during retirement, the person is discharged from his services with honours.
