A is correct answer as it is more assimilative and encompass both industrialization and which leads to indirectly reduction of poverty of villagers.

C cannot be the answer because there is at no point any suggestion that "poverty" will be removed -- nor the absolute statement of "complete". Hunger and lack of material goods can connote poverty, but the paragraph is referring to goods and services.

A is a better answer, but it uses the word "culture" and that's a stretch from what is actually in the material.

"complete" removal of poverty is just a concept and not reality. Hence A is the right answer.

Right answer is A. The glittering prize of 20th century is material welfare resulting from industrialisation.

A is the right answer. Eschew the glittering prizes literally means Circumvent or boycott the temptations that the 20th century offers. And going by the passage it quite obvious to understand that 20th century offers materialized culture.

I agree with @Nitin. A should be the right answer, but B also is a potentially good answer for the question. Anyhow C doesn't seems to be right.

C is indeed the correct answer. Industrialization offers (or advertises) for poverty removal so government would accept it. But, Mahatma Gandhi knew it to be worthless.
