But I did not want to shoot the elephant. I watched him beating his bunch of grass against his knees, with the preoccupied grandmotherly air that elephants have. It seemed to me that it would be murder to shoot him. I had never shot an elephant and never wanted to. (Somehow it always seems worse to kill large animal.) Besides, there was the beast's owner to be considered. But I had got to act quickly. I turned to some experienced-looking Burmans who had been there when we arrived, and asked them how the elephants had been behaving. They all said the same thing; he took no notice of you if you left him alone, but he might charge if you went too close to him.

The very first line clearly indicates that the author doesn't want to kill the elephant and the last two lines show that the elephant was not doing anybody any harm. According to me, author was more concerned about the nature of the elephant than his experience, so, he did not want to shoot the elephant. OPTION-C.

In my view there are two different things : One is about being capable to shoot animal and the other is his sympathy about elephant that is stronger part according to the passage.
So option C looks little bit more correct than and option B. So my answer is C.

I think it's C because the lines "It seemed to me that it would be murder to shoot him. I had never shot an elephant and never wanted to. " shows that he was more considerate. His inexperience is just a secondary reason why he's not shooting the animal.

As narrated story the author mention two things are 1) " It seemed to me that it would be murder to shoot him" might be he afraid. 2) "Somehow it always seems worse to kill large animal" it shown the author was kind. I guess A and C both are correct.

Answer should be B. Since it is not mentioned in para about killing animals which are not doing any harm. So by our own we can't assume option c. But he felt it is worse to kill large animal (given in para). So the correct option is only B.

I think the answer is that the hunter did not wish to kill animal which was not doing anybody any harm, that was why he decided to shoot the elephant after some experienced-looking Burmans who had been there when he and his crew arrived.

The answer is to be C because the author tells in the paragraph.
" I had never shot an elephant and never wanted to. (Somehow it always seems worse to kill large animal. ) " it shows that he had no experience to kill large animals.
" I had never shot an elephant and never wanted to. (Somehow it always seems worse to kill large animal. ) " it shows that he had no experience to kill large animals.

(Somehow it always seems worse to kill the large animal).
Doesn't this indicate that he has the experience to kill large animals (perhaps not elephants) to make the comparison that it seems worse (than killing small ones)?

If in this question, option is B then in second question, answer must be A.
Here said that he doesn't have experience of killing big animals it means he has experience of killing some kind animal say small size.
