But I did not want to shoot the elephant. I watched him beating his bunch of grass against his knees, with the preoccupied grandmotherly air that elephants have. It seemed to me that it would be murder to shoot him. I had never shot an elephant and never wanted to. (Somehow it always seems worse to kill large animal.) Besides, there was the beast's owner to be considered. But I had got to act quickly. I turned to some experienced-looking Burmans who had been there when we arrived, and asked them how the elephants had been behaving. They all said the same thing; he took no notice of you if you left him alone, but he might charge if you went too close to him.

Here, Kind and considerate is the right option because there was a beat's owner to be considered.

The sentence "Somehow it always seems worse to kill large animal. " clearly shows he wasn't kind and considerate.

If he had kindness he would not kill even small animals, due to lake of experience of killing large animals he left it, not because of kindness.

I would say he was fearful because at the moment the elephant showed no sign of hostility for him to shoot it but he knew its behavioral pattern and besides he had the owner to take in consideration, Which means he was scared because people was watching.

I had never shot an elephant and never wanted to (somehow it always seems worse to kill large animal). Account to author it seems worse to kill large animals (so he is kind). But what when he kills small animals (as not mentioned that he never kill any animal). So how we can say he is kind and considerate? So 'D' he was worried that's why he turned to experience Burman (maybe I m wrong but I put my opinion).

He said that he did not want to shoot the elephant. That statement shows his, kindness, & consideration. He said he was also inexperienced with shooting large animals.

"never wanted to" implies that he is kind and considerate. So B.
