But I did not want to shoot the elephant. I watched him beating his bunch of grass against his knees, with the preoccupied grandmotherly air that elephants have. It seemed to me that it would be murder to shoot him. I had never shot an elephant and never wanted to. (Somehow it always seems worse to kill large animal.) Besides, there was the beast's owner to be considered. But I had got to act quickly. I turned to some experienced-looking Burmans who had been there when we arrived, and asked them how the elephants had been behaving. They all said the same thing; he took no notice of you if you left him alone, but he might charge if you went too close to him.

He was worried because the situation is like this, these not meant to that he is worried man (who are much worried about there life and some past problem at all), but by the line "but I did not want to shoot the elephant" (shows his considerate (careful not to inconvenience or harm others) nature), meant that it was done accidentally, and by the line " I had never shot an elephant and never wanted to", it shows the kindness of him.

I had never shot an elephant and never wanted to (somehow it always seems worse to kill large animal). Account to author it seems worse to kill large animals (so he is kind). But what when he kills small animals (as not mentioned that he never kill any animal). So how we can say he is kind and considerate? So 'D' he was worried that's why he turned to experience Burman (maybe I m wrong but I put my opinion).

How can the hunter be kind and considerate as he mentioned clearly in the passage that he has no experience of killing big animals this means that hunter can only kill small animals and if he was kind he would have not killed the small animals too?
Am I right?
So, the Answer should be possessed with fear.

It is obvious he was there to kill an elephant orderwise what was he doing in the elephant space with the burnmen, "i did not want to shoot" he was cut between doing the right thing or the wrong think, obvoiusly he was worried his emotional expression shows that, so the correct answer is D.

I would say he was fearful because at the moment the elephant showed no sign of hostility for him to shoot it but he knew its behavioral pattern and besides he had the owner to take in consideration, Which means he was scared because people was watching.

The statement "It seemed to me that it would be murder to shoot him. I had never shot an elephant and never wanted to" explained that the writer is a worried man. So the answer should be D.

''I've never shooted an elephant'', that means he's not that experienced enough.
So for me, Option 'A' makes more sense. If he's kind and considerate, why would he carry a gun to hunt?

He said that he did not want to shoot the elephant. That statement shows his, kindness, & consideration. He said he was also inexperienced with shooting large animals.

This answer irritated me for the simple fact I did not get that he was kind and caring. I got he was NOT experienced with killing this specific animal.

If he had kindness he would not kill even small animals, due to lake of experience of killing large animals he left it, not because of kindness.
