But I did not want to shoot the elephant. I watched him beating his bunch of grass against his knees, with the preoccupied grandmotherly air that elephants have. It seemed to me that it would be murder to shoot him. I had never shot an elephant and never wanted to. (Somehow it always seems worse to kill large animal.) Besides, there was the beast's owner to be considered. But I had got to act quickly. I turned to some experienced-looking Burmans who had been there when we arrived, and asked them how the elephants had been behaving. They all said the same thing; he took no notice of you if you left him alone, but he might charge if you went too close to him.

I would say he was fearful because at the moment the elephant showed no sign of hostility for him to shoot it but he knew its behavioral pattern and besides he had the owner to take in consideration, Which means he was scared because people was watching.

I had never shot an elephant and never wanted to - This clearly shows that he is inexperienced hunter.

If he had kindness he would not kill even small animals, due to lake of experience of killing large animals he left it, not because of kindness.

The sentence "Somehow it always seems worse to kill large animal. " clearly shows he wasn't kind and considerate.

This answer irritated me for the simple fact I did not get that he was kind and caring. I got he was NOT experienced with killing this specific animal.

He was worried because the situation is like this, these not meant to that he is worried man (who are much worried about there life and some past problem at all), but by the line "but I did not want to shoot the elephant" (shows his considerate (careful not to inconvenience or harm others) nature), meant that it was done accidentally, and by the line " I had never shot an elephant and never wanted to", it shows the kindness of him.

I think option A is better than B because if he is kind and considerate then he will never go for hunting.
So he has a lake of experience.
So he has a lake of experience.

''I've never shooted an elephant'', that means he's not that experienced enough.
So for me, Option 'A' makes more sense. If he's kind and considerate, why would he carry a gun to hunt?
