I felt the wall of the tunnel shiver. The master alarm squealed through my earphones. Almost simultaneously, Jack yelled down to me that there was a warning light on. Fleeting but spectacular sights snapped into ans out of view, the snow, the shower of debris, the moon, looming close and big, the dazzling sunshine for once unfiltered by layers of air. The last twelve hours before re-entry were particular bone-chilling. During this period, I had to go up in to command module. Even after the fiery re-entry splashing down in 81o water in south pacific, we could still see our frosty breath inside the command module.

There are several indicators in the passage that point out that the passage "perhaps' deals with a journey into outer space. The author describes the 'fleeting and spectacular sights' snapping in and out. This indicates a vehicle moving at an unimaginable speed. So it cannot be a journey.
The author speaks of 'command module', 're-entry', 'splashing down. The pacific' etc. All these words are associated with the 'return' of a space ship to earth. Therefore the word 'perhaps'. The absence of any action between characters shows that options A and B and D are incorrect.

So basically a command module is something space related it is a kind of spacecraft, so with that knowledge, you'll definitely choose C, but you might come across some unfamiliar words in other comprehensions, just try eliminating choices that basically do not make sense like choice D, until your left with 1 or 2 choices, then choose the choice that is more exact, in this case, C is the correct answer.
Hope it's helped.

Question doesn't ask that what command module stands in the passage for? It simply asking what "command module" use for? so command module is the control center and living quarters for most of the lunar mission for astronauts. The fourth sentence in the passage indicates flight. In summary, the passage is about flight into outer space, So option C is correct.

In that situation, the person moved to command module, so we should consider it as a separate space as according to the given options, if not you could have analysed it in different way.
Eg: If he was a lead, he is commanding through phone etc, complete depends on one's perspective or analysis.

Based on the given passage, the term "Command Module" is mentioned, suggesting a context related to space exploration rather than an alarming journey, commanding situation, or a frightful battle.
Therefore, the most appropriate option is: C. a journey into outer space.

I could figure out the answer by these lines :
"the dazzling sunshine for once unfiltered by layers of air", it clearly depicts the absence of atmosphere, indicating they were in space.

Command module means The portion of a spacecraft in which the astronauts live, communicate with a ground station, and operate controls during a flight. So only answer c is correct.
