Option C is correct, but option B is also correct, because if there are no microbes in soil (or earth) then how gaseous exchange. I mean to say that decomposing also play important role in most natural food chains.

Producers, usually photosynthetic organisms come first in most of the natural food chains. They manufacture food with the aid of solar energy and the energy gets transmitted to the next trophic levels thereafter.

Option C is correct because we know first food has to be synthesized then it can be consumed by a herbivorous animal. If now food is synthesized then how could herbivorous animal get the food?

According to me, photosynthetic come first since they manufacture food from solar energy and then move to the next trophic level

Food chain starts with food synthesizing organisms- producers but not with primary consumers. Option C is more appropriate.

Photosynthetics should be the answer as that's the one which synthesises food.
