Here we are talking about riser.

Riser only compensates the shrinkage occurs in liquid and phase change ie solidification shrinkage. % of Al shrinkage is 6.6% which is higher than any other material mentioned above.

Answer must be ALUMINIUM.

Steel has a highest shrinkage.

Aluminium is the right answer because riser is provided for liquid shrinkage and liquid shrinkage is more for Al than Steel. Steel has more shrinkage allowance for solid shrinkage than Al.

Aluminum is the correct answer.

We know that for maximum liquid shrinkage & solidification shrinkage the metal is "Aluminium". In question, it is asking that "which material will require the largest size of riser for the same casting" and also we know that function of the riser is to only compensate the liquid and solidification contraction and not solid contraction. Hence the Answer is "Aluminium" i.e. A.

Its aluminium, riser corresponds to liq shrinkage, so Al is the answer. Overall steel has highest when both solid +liq is considered.

Aluminium is the answer.

Liquid and solidification allowance are higest in Aluminium.

So, the Correct Answer is A.

But what about solidification shrinkage. Stella has the highest shrinkage (liquid +solidification+solid).

And aluminium has highest in 1st two only (liquid and solidification).
And we all know that Riser is used to compensating for only 1st & 2nd.

So, Aluminium is the right answer.

Steel is correct, aluminium is having largest liquid shrinkage, n steel has max total shrinkage, with a fact that riser is designed to compensate both LIQUID as well as SOLIDIFICATION shrinkages.

That's why we consider total shrinkage here.
