Aluminium is having largest liquid shrinkage and overall liquid & solid shrinkage is max for steel. But riser is used for compensation of liquid metal. So answer must be A.

Total shrinkage is more in steel.
Liquid shrinkage is more in aluminium.
Solid shrinkage more in brass.
Liquid shrinkage is more in aluminium.
Solid shrinkage more in brass.

Out of all metals used in casting process Aluminium will be shrinking largest about 6% so during casting of the Aluminium size of riser required is largest.

Aluminium contraction rate in percentage is 1.8% and steel is 2% so answer is steel.

Aluminium has highest liquid shrinkage. And steel has highest ROYAL SHRINKAGE.

Carbon steel experiences shrinkage of about 3% during solidification. Additional volume reduction occurs during the cooling of the liquid metal after pouring. These contractions will create internal unsoundness (ie, porosity) unless a riser, or liquid metal reservoir, provides liquid feed metal until the end of the solidification process.

Aluminium is the right answer because riser is provided for liquid shrinkage and liquid shrinkage is more for Al than Steel. Steel has more shrinkage allowance for solid shrinkage than Al.

Aluminium is the answer because shrinkage is more in aluminium and V of riser > 3 times V of casting.

Aluminium has shrinkage of 16 mm/m while steel has 20 mm/m, so I think steel is correct answer.
