At first ingot is reduced in shape by hot rolling process to billet. Billet has square cross-sectional area i.e 15*15 cm2.

Further reduction of billet makes blooms. It has also square cross sectional area i.e 10*10 cm2.

Bloom minimum size-150 mm*150 mm (square c/s)& billet minimum size - 50 mm*50 mm (square c/s).

Billet and Blooms are generally smaller in size than an ingot. If the cross section of a casting is a square, it is called a billet. Billets have a cross section are of less than 36 sq inches .

Blooms have rectangular cross sections. The name Bloom comes from Bloomery. Another condition for a bloom is that the cross section must be greater than 36 sq. inches.

Billets are made of blooms.
Blooms are made from the ingot.

So blooms are bigger than billet. From billet, the final product is making as;

Ingot----->Bloom------>Billet------>Final product.
