A column is said to be a short column, when
its length is very small
its cross-sectional area is small
the ratio of its length to the least radhis of gyration is less than 80.

Short column slenderness ratio <32.
Medium column between 32 to 120.
Long column > 120.

For short column length is less then 30*diameter and slenderness ratio should be less then 32.

Here we can say a column having slenderness ratio less then 80 (that is less 32 come under less then 80) is short column.

Some books also say for short column S.R ratio should be less then 80. So C option is right.

Slenderness ratio can be defined as the ratio of the length to the radius of gyration. Long column; the ration = 100.

For short > 120.

For medium size = 32-120.

So the answer is D.

If the length L < 8D (D= Diametre) then we said to the Column is short column.
