Neutral axis lies at h/3 from bottom and max shear stress occurs at h/2 from bottom.

Generally, maximum shear stress occurs at the neutral axis. But the triangular section is an exception for that. In which maximum shear stress occurs at the middle of the height i.e. at h/2.

Max shear stress is at h/6 distance from the base for triangle.

The maximum shear stress occurs at h/2, and not at the neutral axis.

Max. Shear stress = 1. 5 shear stress at neutral axis (Avg.) means in rectangular section max shear is h/2 DISTANCE.

For every beam, the neutral axis plane where bending stress is zero and shear stress is maximum. For triangle, it h/3 from the base.

Given answer is correct. In triangular section max stress occurs at h/2 from base. But NA lies near to base.

NA lies h/3.
Maximum shear stress lies h/2.
So, it will above NA.
Maximum shear stress lies h/2.
So, it will above NA.
