Actually it is twice but for design purpose it was considered as 1.875.

There is shear acting on two surfaces of rivets, it should be twice of area, but practically found as 1.875 times.

There is shear acting on two surfaces of rivets, it should be twice of the area, but practically found as 1.875 times.Because two plates are not the same thickness
i.e strap thickness is 0.75t.
