No stress concentration is more serious in brittle material when there is static loading because of sudden plastic deformation and not able to withstand that load so, crack develops in brittle material.
But in cyclic loading its is dependent on yielding. As brittle materials do not yield it is more serious in ductile materials.

I agree @Anuj.
The answer should be option C.
Stress concentration is more serious in the brittle material when the load is static but when it is dynamic load it is serious to both ductile as well as brittle. Since the fatigue failure normally occurs in the range below yielding point.

Good explanation @Amal.
@Abreeque.
Gray cast iron is used for machine tool bed due to high damping capacity agree with you, it is brittle material and also stress concentration more due to static loading to decrease it's brittleness and stress we do high tampering process.

Stress concentration is more serious in brittle material because stress concentration in brittle material results in immediate failure while ductile materials neutralize effect of stress concentration to some extent by deforming plastically.

In Brittle materials stress concentration is more serious as a failure of material is sudden without any warning whether in the ductile material it happens in stage with cup and cone formation.

For Static loading, its more serious for Brittle Materials, but for Cyclic loading, Stress concentrations is serious for both Brittle & Ductile.

If the static load is more serious for brittle material. Why we use machine base material brittle? Just like lath machine bed.

The answer is C because the stress concentration factor serious for both ductile and brittle material in cyclic loading.

For static loading - brittle.
Cyclic loading - brittle and ductile.
Cyclic loading - brittle and ductile.
