My knowledge is that every object at rest posses a potential energy. In addition to this, I just wonder how possible it may be for a body that a body that just had a collision posses lesser energy when at its initial kinetic energy before collision.

Loss of KE. Takes place during impact so KE. Before impact is more than KE after impact.

But if the collision is perfectly elastic then B is correct as per conservation of energy.

I think after impact the stress induced in the body was more so it will directly affect the energy consumption rate and also change in moment of area.
