Kinetic friction, also known as dynamic or sliding friction occurs when a body is in relative motion with another, with their surfaces in contact. It is the frictional force that slows down, and eventually stops a moving object.

Shashi Chaugule said: (Jan 5, 2013)
When the any body or components are in motion when these said to dynamic means change of positions per unit time this friction is said to be dynamic friction.

Gaurav said: (Jan 12, 2013)
When the body moves it also exert gravitational force and due to reaction it reply friction force.

Aayush said: (Mar 9, 2013)
In case, if any body experiences an external force resulting into its motion, it is said to have the dynamic(kinetic) motion.

While, if body is in motion but not because of any external force, then it may b included in kinematics.

Aravinth said: (Apr 8, 2013)
Dynamics is the study of behaviour of a body when it is in the motion so the friction of a body while motion is known as dynamic friction.

Raqib said: (Jun 17, 2013)
Dynamics refers study of motion of body. If the friction force is acted means it refers to dynamic friction.

Harsh said: (Jul 14, 2013)
When there is relative motion between two bodies, when in motion, then there exists kinetic friction between them, which is also known as dynamic friction, as external forces are also involved in this.

Debaraj said: (Jul 15, 2013)
Dynamics when body is in motion. When a body slides over another body friction occurs in between the two body. The friction offers resistance to the motion of the sliding body that's why motion called as dynamics motion.

Madhu said: (Jul 31, 2013)
When the body is in rest, it has a resistant to move because of static friction. Whenever it overcomes that friction it goes under dynamic friction.

Rituraj said: (Aug 17, 2013)
Motion of a body is directly related to the velocity(kinematic and dynamic).

Hemin Raja.J said: (Sep 25, 2013)
Friction due to body slides over another body, hence velocity takes place. So that it's dynamic friction.

Srikanth Laishetti said: (Nov 11, 2013)
Since the body is in motion, opposite force is generated to restrict the motion of the body as kinetic friction or dynamic friction.

Sachendra Chaturvedi said: (Dec 1, 2013)
When two body subjected to relative motion is called dynamic friction.

Suresh Kotte said: (Dec 26, 2013)
When the body is moving to contact with surface then some force oppose the motion of body called friction. But the body in motion so it is called dynamic friction.

Neil said: (Mar 2, 2014)
You are right friends, but if bodies have wheel like surface then there is rolling friction, and it is not specified here. So? I think it can be A also.

Srikant said: (Apr 4, 2014)
@Niel, you are absolutely correct. But the most appropriate answer is Dynamic friction. All the rolling friction is a dynamic friction but the reverse is not true. A relative motion of a block on a slope is a dynamic friction and not a rolling friction. A ball bearing or wheels moving on a road experience rolling friction which may be termed as dynamic friction even.

When body in motion then it experience friction which has magnitude. So it is dynamic friction.

Deepak said: (Sep 1, 2014)
Why, dynamic because during motion friction force acts is slightly lesser than limiting friction due to inertia therefore it is termed as dynamic friction.

Dileepkumar said: (Sep 16, 2014)
Yes that is dynamic friction, because the body is in motion that's why that has dynamic friction.

Satyajit Sahu said: (Oct 14, 2014)
As here mentioned that type of the motion of the body is known to us, so the body is in motion (dynamic condition) for this reason only it will come across dynamic friction.

Dynamic friction applied on the body in motion.

Sliding friction applied on the body in rest.

Thank you too much for this, really before I did not understand it. Can you please give me explanation for other options?

Vivek Kumar Singh Ideal Ghaziabad said: (Jan 27, 2015)
In nature friction is only three types are available in air we called air resistance in liquids we called -viscosity in Solids we called friction. According to discussion friction basically two types 1st static friction and 2nd dynamic friction according to discussion dynamic means motion (any object which can observed as motion) and friction is surface property which can exert when two or more then bodies are contact and also known motion opposing force.

And dynamic friction is define when body is experienced motion then those force exert on body as a retarding parameter or to reduce the motion of body then body experienced dynamic friction.

Patrick Samson said: (Feb 9, 2015)
If a body is in motion it experience a friction with the surface is called kinetic friction, if dynamic friction=kinetic friction then I agree that is dynamic friction.

Roniee said: (Mar 19, 2015)
When motion of body which restricted by any body who applied restricted force is called friction force, also we say any body restricted apposite direction of motion is called friction force.

Dynamic friction it means body or parts is in motion with other parts and in rolling friction parts is circulated with respect to other.

Sanket Haste said: (Jun 14, 2015)
Dynamic deals with motion and hence friction associated with it must be dynamic friction.

Harish Yadav said: (Aug 7, 2015)
How many types of friction are there?

Santosh said: (Sep 14, 2015)
The word dynamic refers to motion, static refers to rest position, rolling is one of the motion, limiting is just like fluctuations in motion.

The force that must be overcome to maintain steady motion of one body relative to another because they remain in contact.

Deepak Chobey said: (Jan 5, 2016)
The body move one motion other motion, in this motion the dynamic force is generated, Force is related to limiting friction convert to dynamic friction, It is maintain restricted force depend on energy.

Can you explain other options please, am clear now with dynamic friction.

Tinu K Joy said: (Jul 19, 2016)
@Deepak Sharma & @Dinesh.

When a body is rolling on a surface it will be acted by a certain amount of friction between surface is called rolling friction.

When a body is in rest and the amount of friction it is acting towards the surface just before it is going to motion is called limiting friction.

Rolling Friction: The resistance force of the body when it rolls on the surface.

Dynamic Friction: Is also known as kinetic friction, is a resistance of body between moving surface of moving body to steady surface of steady body.

Limiting Friction: The maximum force that can be used to start motion of the body.

Static Friction: The force required to keep body at rest.

Jitendra Mittal said: (Feb 17, 2017)
Dynamic Friction: Dry friction resists relative lateral motion of two solid surfaces in contact. The two regimes of dry friction are 'static friction' ("stiction") between non-moving surfaces and kinetic friction (sometimes called sliding friction or dynamic friction) between moving surfaces.

When two bodies are moving in different directions an letter tend to come close or slide toward each other, it means there is a frictional force between them. Since the two Bodies are motion is dynamic friction.

Yogesh said: (Jun 27, 2017)
The questions in not ask particular friction so dynamic friction Will be right because the questions in the not given the surface type so friction depends on the surface.
