When manganese is added to aluminium, its strength is increased slightly through solution strengthening and its strain hardening is also improved. However, corrosion resistance or ductility is not considerably reduced. A large part of manganese is used as high-carbon ferromanganese and added to carbon steels.

Chromium increases corrosion resistance strength.
