Normalizing is carried in still air, rate of cooling is more, it form fine pearlite with small uniform grain. So, it results in higher strength, hardness and low in ductility.

Reduced ductility means it is comparatively. Compared to annealing, ductility is less.

Normalizing involvesĀ heating the steel to an elevated temperature, followed by slow cooling to room temperature. The heating and slow cooling changes the microstructure of the steel. This reduces the hardness of the steel and will increase its ductility.
