Normalizing involvesĀ heating the steel to an elevated temperature, followed by slow cooling to room temperature. The heating and slow cooling changes the microstructure of the steel. This reduces the hardness of the steel and will increase its ductility.

C is the answer because in normalizing temperature increases displacement of atomic planes is easily produces plastic strain easily ductility increases, ultimate tensile strength increases.

Answer. D.
Normalizing is carried in still air, rate of cooling is more, it form fine pearlite with small uniform grain. So, it results in higher strength, hardness and low in ductility.

Actually, normalizing improves mechanical and electrical properties. It also removes strains produced by cold working. So, it can be said with surety that it increases ductility.

In the normalising process, the material is heated above critical point temperature and allowed to cool in air. The answer is D only.

Reduced ductility means it is comparatively. Compared to annealing, ductility is less.

Ductlity increases in normalizing. It decreases as compared to annealed steel.

Comparatively option B i.e. ductility decreases during normalizing process.
