Manganese increases hardness so that material can be used in mining work.

There are some alloying elements which are austenite stabilizer and increase critical temperature i.e .Ni, Mn, Co etc.

Toughness is a combination of strength and ductility so don't confuse with yield point because both should be optimum.

No, tungsten is used to increase critical point & manganese is used to increase it's handness.
