Grey cast iron has less tensile strength and shock resistance than most other castings or even steal, it has a compressive strength that is comparable to low- and medium-carbon steel.

No, the Answer should be D.
Grey cast iron & nodular cast iron has low compression & high tensile strength - Ductile.

Answer A is absolutely right, because grey cast iron as high compressive strength and low tensile strength whereas white cast iron as high tensile strength and low compressive strength.

Grey cast iron has low tensile strength and high compressive strength, therefore, its impact and shock resistance is almost non-existence.

Grey cast iron has high tensile strength and low compressive strength also.
So why option D is not an Answer?
So why option D is not an Answer?

Gray iron, or grey cast iron, is a type of cast iron that has a graphitic microstructure. It is named after the gray color of the fracture it forms, which is due to the presence of graphite. It is the most common cast iron and the most widely used cast material based on weight.
