My answer is D.
Because taxol discovered the pacific yew as an anticancer drug. So, it acts as an antibiotic to cancer patients.

My answer is D. Worthless means there is "no use" or "not useful" for human application until taxol was discovered.

The answer should be none of the above (D).
It was never mentioned that pacific yew was worthless prior to the discovery. (C) The passage mentions that the fruit of the Pacific yew is fleshy and poisonous, but it does not provide any information on whether people should or should not eat the fruit.
Therefore, it cannot be determined from the given information.
