The answer should be none of the above (D).

It was never mentioned that pacific yew was worthless prior to the discovery. (C) The passage mentions that the fruit of the Pacific yew is fleshy and poisonous, but it does not provide any information on whether people should or should not eat the fruit.

Therefore, it cannot be determined from the given information.

I support [C]. Guys why are you all considering it worthless until taxol was discovered. Its fruit is poisonous but this tree might be worthy due to any other reason like its leaves are useful or it is very beautiful or its roots are useful etc.

Hence [C] is correct.

Supporting for answer D. Because it is also said that recently it has been discovered as anti drug for cancer till then it was only a poisonous fruit no one rather eats any poisonous thing. So it was worthless, until the taxol is discovered as a antidrug.

"The Pacific yew has a fleshy, poisonous fruit".

The statement People should not eat the fruit of the Pacific yew is a value judgment. People should not eat the fruit if they do not wish to be poisoned, that is true.

I m supporting for [D]. Because Taxol is used as anticancer drug, it should be eaten by cancer diseases pepole. It is right that Pacific yew was not worth but now worthwhile only because of Toxic.

Right @ Pasupathi Sundharam.

As it is said in the text the fruit is poisonous so it would have harmed people or just it does not cure anying.

My answer is D.

Because taxol discovered the pacific yew as an anticancer drug. So, it acts as an antibiotic to cancer patients.

I think the answer is C, people should not eat the fruit, though the taxol is to be used for anti-cancer treatment.

My answer is D. Worthless means there is "no use" or "not useful" for human application until taxol was discovered.

Actually C is correct because it is given that the fruit is poisonous and the bark is helpful in treating cancer.
