Option A and B straightaway gets ruled out as of no relevance from statement.
Now option c assumes hitesh has some belief regarding ghost stories. But lemme ask what is the need to tell it to mohit or any second person unless there happen to be some purpose. Other person must be interested in some way to pay attention to your so called belief, .
Hence purpose here is to scare mohit as he might know that mohit is afraid of ghosts.
Both are assumptions but opt D has more substance.
Consider hitesh as father and mohit as son and then try to sort this mess out.

Only option A, that Peepal trees exist (most likely growing there, but this is not established, either) can be relatively certain from the passage.
The passage does not provide enough information to establish the belief system of the participants, or their faith in one another's statements.
Consider: Hitesh could be the 4-year-old nephew of Mohit who is 40 -- now option D seems ridiculous.

Even in my opinion, Option C is the best choice.
Only a person having interest in the subject can communicate his thoughts or beliefs to others.
Just by listening to someone, one cannot conclude, the receiver has an interest in the subject matter of the transmitter other views solicited.

Option 'D' is not quite suitable, in the statement, there is no trace of believing or not of Ghosts, so 'D' is not correct. Option C is suitable because Hitesh is conveying something he has heard/He believes in, which matches with the statement closely.

Option 'C' seems quite right than 'D' because from statement, it is not sure that Mohit is afraid of ghosts but as in 'C', 'perhaps' shows possibility so it is acceptable.

@All.
Even I felt option C to be the right answer. Cause the one who's sharing the story definitely finds interest & perhaps believes in such stories.

C is better option than D.
Because D is shows surity which can't be said seeing the question. C has "perhaps" which makes it more suitable.

I also believe that option C is correct as while concluding we should not reach specific conclusions unless until required by the question.

It should be an option C. D is definitely not a suitable choice. Moreover, the word "perhaps" in option c makes it more suitable.

In option D there is a "must". That it why it's not the perfect choice. Option C should be correct as there is "perhaps".
