Directions to Solve

In each question below is given a statement followed by two conclusions numbered I and II. You have to assume everything in the statement to be true, then consider the two conclusions together and decide which of them logically follows beyond a reasonable doubt from the information given in the statement.

Give answer:

  • (A) If only conclusion I follows
  • (B) If only conclusion II follows
  • (C) If either I or II follows
  • (D) If neither I nor II follows and
  • (E) If both I and II follow.

Analysis:

The statement suggests that modern man influences his destiny through the choices he makes, implying that there is a greater sense of agency and influence over one's destiny compared to the past.

Now, let's evaluate the conclusions:

Conclusion I: Earlier there were fewer options available to men. This conclusion logically follows from the given statement. If modern man influences his destiny through choices, it implies that there are more options available to him than there were in the past. Therefore, this conclusion logically follows from the information provided.

Conclusion II: There was no desire in the past to influence destiny. This conclusion cannot be logically inferred from the given statement. The statement does not provide information about the past desires or motivations of individuals. It only contrasts the influence of choices on destiny between modern times and the past.

In conclusion, Conclusion I logically follows from the given statement, while Conclusion II does not.

From the statement it can be concluded that earlier, men did not influence their destiny by the choices they had made.

It is not mentioned whether there were few options available to them.

So, how A is the answer?

Answer should be D, since nothing about the desire in the past is mentioned.

How is it possible that Conclusion 1 is the answer? Even though the assertion might be true on it own, it doesn't fit what we are trying to do here. D is the answer. A is completely made up, and WRONG!

In the case of conclusion, we have to stick with the statement only, so we take anything about past or future it going to be an assumption, so D is the right answer.

Can someone please explain me how A is the answer?

Is it like they talked about modern man so they assumed that they were not having much option for them in past?

D is the only logical conclusion. Whoever made this is a *beep*. There's nothing inside the statement that in anyway could suggest people had less choices.

The Answer will be D, because in the statement there has not been mentioned that in past time there were fewer options to set up destiny.

I totaly go with option 'D'.

They have not mention anything like option in the statement. There may be other reasons also.

How can you say that earlier man doesn't influence there destiny by choices.

So I will go with option D.

Here it is mentioned "modern man" so in past man was not modern so man in past must have fewer option.
