In each question below is given a statement followed by two assumptions numbered I and II. You have to consider the statement and the following assumptions and decide which of the assumptions is implicit in the statement.

Give answer

  • (A) If only assumption I is implicit
  • (B) If only assumption II is implicit
  • (C) If either I or II is implicit
  • (D) If neither I nor II is implicit
  • (E) If both I and II are implicit.

42.

Statement: "If you want timely completion of work, provide independent cabins," - An employee tells the Director of a Company.

Assumptions:

  1. There are not enough cabins.
  2. Others' presence hinders timely completion of work.

Only assumption I is implicit
Only assumption II is implicit
Either I or II is implicit
Neither I nor II is implicit
Both I and II are implicit
Answer: Option
Explanation:
The statement clearly hints at the need for cabins. So, I is implicit. Since independent cabins are expected to improve efficiency, it means that others' presence hinders work. So, II is also implicit.

Suppose that the work place is so spicy, but co-worker is so annoying or so stinky. This should be enough reason to ask for an independent cabin. Put it differently, assumption II alone is sufficient to make the request. Therefore, either I or II is implicit.
