Directions to Solve

In each question below is given a statement followed by two assumptions numbered I and II. You have to consider the statement and the following assumptions and decide which of the assumptions is implicit in the statement.

Give answer

  • (A) If only assumption I is implicit
  • (B) If only assumption II is implicit
  • (C) If either I or II is implicit
  • (D) If neither I nor II is implicit
  • (E) If both I and II are implicit.

11.

Statement: The office building needs repairing just as urgently as it needs internal as well as external painting.

Assumptions:

  1. Efficiency of people working in the office cannot be improved unless office building is repaired.
  2. Repairing and painting of office building require funds.

Only assumption I is implicit
Only assumption II is implicit
Either I or II is implicit
Neither I nor II is implicit
Both I and II are implicit
Answer: Option
Explanation:
Clearly, nothing can be deduced regarding the effect of repairs of office building on efficiency of workers, or the requirement of funds for repairs, from the given statement. So, neither I nor II is implicit.

Yes, repairing requires money.

However, I think why it's not implicit because nothing about funds is mentioned in the statement given. Fund and money are two different things.

The fund is saved for a particular purpose while money can be cash, notes, coins etc. Therefore, Assumption II is not implicit.

They need funds to repair the building, but why is it not implicit? Please explain.

Isn't the repair work requires money? How is the second option not implicit?
