Discussion Forum : Statement and Assumption - Section 1 (Q.No. 4)
Directions to Solve

In each question below is given a statement followed by two assumptions numbered I and II. You have to consider the statement and the following assumptions and decide which of the assumptions is implicit in the statement.

Give answer

  • (A) If only assumption I is implicit
  • (B) If only assumption II is implicit
  • (C) If either I or II is implicit
  • (D) If neither I nor II is implicit
  • (E) If both I and II are implicit.

4.

Statement: Unemployment allowance should be given to all unemployed Indian youth above 18 years of age.

Assumptions:

  1. There are unemployed youth in India who needs monetary support.
  2. The government has sufficient funds to provide allowance to all unemployed youth.

Only assumption I is implicit
Only assumption II is implicit
Either I or II is implicit
Neither I nor II is implicit
Both I and II are implicit
Answer: Option
Explanation:
I directly follows from the statement and so is implicit. Also, the statement is a suggestion and does not tell about a government policy or its position of funds. So, II is not implicit.

@All correct answer A.

Implicit statement is that one which shows righteousness of statement, for say in this example someone is suggesting the unemployment allowance.

So he must have the rough idea of unemployed youth in this country that's why he is suggesting, but about government fund he didn't know any thing so 2nd one is not true.

As child labour is illegal so who will be employed?

Youth only and most of the working youth facing unemployment according to their qualification is 18+ only. So the answer will be A. And the ability of govt to pay is not given in statement so can't be assumed in conclusion.

A is the right answer.

If the statement would have been 'Govt has decided' in that case it would have been an assumption that it has sufficient funds.

But here it is not a decision but a suggestion so we can't be sure of the funds which make A as the correct answer.

@All.

Statement 2 is not implicit because it mentions "The government has sufficient funds to provide an allowance to all unemployed youth" Here the term to be taken note of is all unemployed youth. While the statement talks about funds for unemployed youth above 18.

How could we assue that First assumption is implicit because in the statement there is no information about the need of money support.......and if this is right then everyone need money so how could it implicit?

2 in not implicit because, it is a suggestion (that means here, the statement is not said by the government. It is said by someone).

(If it is said by the government it is implicit).

Think Logically, Implicit statement means a hidden statement, in the passage, which is related to it.

Well for now I can't explain more. Just think, and remember implicit meaning.

Dear Sir,

Actually the answer is D instead of A, because statement said youth above 18 years of age, but in A is mentioned for all the youth (not in criteria).

Hence Answer is D.

Provide unemployment allowance only to those whose survival for life is difficult and on the basis of such other criteria gov can decide who is eligible and who is not?

Horrendous said:   6 years ago
The answer should be D because When the government has sufficient fund and feels to assist all youth, only then it can declare this.
