Directions to Solve

In each question below is given a statement followed by two assumptions numbered I and II. You have to consider the statement and the following assumptions and decide which of the assumptions is implicit in the statement.

Give answer

  • (A) If only assumption I is implicit
  • (B) If only assumption II is implicit
  • (C) If either I or II is implicit
  • (D) If neither I nor II is implicit
  • (E) If both I and II are implicit.

18.

Statement: "This drink can be had either as it is, or after adding ice to it." - An advertisement.

Assumptions:

  1. People differ in their preferences.
  2. Some people will get attracted to the drink as it can be had as it is.

Only assumption I is implicit
Only assumption II is implicit
Either I or II is implicit
Neither I nor II is implicit
Both I and II are implicit
Answer: Option
Explanation:
The advertisement tells the different ways in which the drink can be had. This means that different people prefer to have it in a different way and that some people would prefer it only because it can be taken in a particular manner. So, both I and II are implicit.

Sorry I take back my 1 reply that 2nd option is implicit because it is clearly given as advertisement so that people can get attracted to it so both assumptions implicit.

I think we can't tell about people behaviour whether they will get attracted or not and differences in first can be anything.

Attraction towards the product can't be determined accurately so according to me 2nd assumption does not implicit.

Statement repeats in assumption ll, so I think it is not implicit.
