Directions to Solve

In each question below is given a statement followed by two assumptions numbered I and II. You have to consider the statement and the following assumptions and decide which of the assumptions is implicit in the statement.

Give answer

  • (A) If only assumption I is implicit
  • (B) If only assumption II is implicit
  • (C) If either I or II is implicit
  • (D) If neither I nor II is implicit
  • (E) If both I and II are implicit.

8.

Statement: If it is easy to become an engineer, I don't want to be an engineer.

Assumptions:

  1. An individual aspires to be professional.
  2. One desires to achieve a thing which is hard earned.

Only assumption I is implicit
Only assumption II is implicit
Either I or II is implicit
Neither I nor II is implicit
Both I and II are implicit
Answer: Option
Explanation:
Clearly, nothing is mentioned about the professional nature of the job. So, I is not implicit. The statement hints that one rejects a thing that is easy to achieve. So, II is implicit.

Yeah @Aanchal Kesri is absolutely right.

Statement specifically mentions about Engineers so we can not generalize this statement.

It is sufficient assumption but it is not a necessary assumption.

How can we assume option b since the statment is specific and the assumption is general.
