Logical Reasoning - Statement and Assumption - Discussion
Discussion Forum : Statement and Assumption - Section 6 (Q.No. 24)
Directions to Solve
In each question below is given a statement followed by three assumptions numbered I, II and III. You have to consider the statement and the following assumptions, decide which of the assumptions is implicit in the statement and choose your answer accordingly.
24.
Statement: A State Government suspended two additional district judges.
Assumptions:
- They were negligent in discharging duties.
- There was a charge of misconduct against them.
- The government officials were biased against them.
Answer: Option
Explanation:
A person holding an office is generally suspended on charges of misconduct or negligence of duty. So, either I or II is implicit. III seems to be vague and so it is not implicit.

But there may be a high possibility of occurance of event like 3 in a country like India.

I think III is also implicit. Misconduct and negligence of duty are not the only the reasons for suspension.

There can be another reason(s) nothing mentioned here so neither of them is implicit.

The explanation "A person holding an office is generally suspended" implies opinion. Looking purely at the statement, none of assumptions are implied. They are conclusions based on opinion.

It says two additional judges, so they could have been removed because they were not needed, hence the answer not is applicable.

A judge (or judges) may also be suspended for other reasons than the two listed in the answer explanation/opinion.
1. Negligence of duty.
2. Charges of misconduct IN office.
3. Charges of moral turpitude (personal crimes in the community)
4. Habitual intemperance (alcoholism, etc.)
5. Prejudicial conduct or decisions in the application or administration of justice/law.
6. Bias/misconduct of Government officials enforcing the suspension of a targeted judge.
*With the caveat that the reader KNOWS the reasons that Government officials can suspend a judge/judges.
If the reasons are not generally accepted principals that are common knowledge, then none of these options is implicit to the average reader. However, if these options were being answered by someone familiar with the law (attorney, law student, legal assistant) then all of the options would be implied, which would still score the question incorrectly.
