Statement: Should there be uniforms for students in the colleges in India as in the schools?

Arguments:

  1. Yes, this will improve the ambience of the colleges as all the students will be decently dressed.
  2. No. The college students should not be regimented and they should be left to choose their clothes for coming to the college.
Only argument I is strong
Only argument II is strong
Either I or II is strong
Neither I nor II is strong
Both I and II are strong
Answer: Option
Explanation:
Clearly, after being in strict discipline and following a formal dress code of the school for so many years, the students must be granted some liberty in college life, as they have to take on the responsibilities of life, next. Besides, schools adopt uniforms to take care of the security of the child - an aspect which doesn't matter much in the colleges. So, argument II holds strong. Also, the environment of the college depends on the students' dedication and etiquettes and not on their uniforms. So, argument I is vague.

Argument 1 is not vague as the students in colleges take the liberty to wear some funky clothes like t-shirts written with logos (which may be absurd or having some weard things written). Also if there is not an uniform there can be a dress code.

A student should desently dressed while coming to college. more over to maintain a discipline it should be applied at the college level.else if a girls/boys can come to college with a 3/4th and a half sleeveless it would not create a studious environment.

So I think the answer of this question is ambiguous.

Colleges have the authority to dictate dress codes for both boys and girls to preserve the ambiance of the college. With disciplinary action to be taken against students who dont follow the dress code. Thus, uniforms are not necessary. This gives certain amount of liberty and freedom to the students and also the college has a bit of control over them.

Thus neither arguments are strong.

In an institutions students come from different classes of the society. Without dress code some students will wear dress of high price & some will not. To avoid this visual discrimination in an educaional institution never be exoected.I will go for 'C'.

Uniform in colleges should be compulsory for students because in college students come from different classes will have no shame and pride.

According to me there should be a dress code.

Not enough information is given, you assume that it is universally known that students in India have a dress code before college (is this true) , do all schools require uniforms, what if a student comes from a culture that never had a dress code.

But their should be uniform for college students too because nowadays we can see students bunk their classes and hangout with friends so if they wear uniform people can recognize them and also college authority can know who is on bunk with the help of local people.

Students are not that serious for their studies the way students used to do before.

Having a dress code will help the students get the feeling of being in a college. Not having a uniform students can wear anything and it will distract them from studying and make not make any students feel the difference in wearing dresses. I will go with A.
