Statement: Should cottage industries be encouraged in rural areas?

Arguments:

  1. Yes. Rural people are creative.
  2. Yes. This would help to solve the problem of unemployment to some extent.
Only argument I is strong
Only argument II is strong
Either I or II is strong
Neither I nor II is strong
Both I and II are strong
Answer: Option
Explanation:
Clearly, cottage industries need to be promoted to create more job opportunities for rural people in the villages themselves. The reason that rural people are creative is vague. So, only argument II holds.

There is creativity in rural people like handloom.

Its not that rural people are not creative. I remember most of the beautiful handicrafts are made by the rural people only.

Rural people always demand for opportunities to earn money. Cottage industry are good option to create employment and if we talk about creativity, rural people are creative and hard worker.

I think the first argument is weak because it does not matter whether rural people are creative or not they can be employed as manpower and can be trained to do a particular type of work. Even if they are creative that is not going to change the amount of wages they are going to earn.

How is it that the second answer is vague?

Having skill and being creative are two totally different approaches. When it come to create new product or making change in product they are far behind from urban community because they have lack of basic knowledge and training.

Here the word. ' creative' is vague. Creativity varies with different people's perspective. Let say if I'm a dull boy. It can happen that even a small idea would look an innovative one. Unparalleled it would not look so to one who is far superior to me.

Rural are also very creative but their creativity lacks within that village. So we can encourage them by building cottage industries. Hence my response is both of them are strong arguments.
