Give answer:
- (A) If only argument I is strong
- (B) If only argument II is strong
- (C) If either I or II is strong
- (D) If neither I nor II is strong and
- (E) If both I and II are strong.

Statement: Should India engage into a dialogue with neighbouring countries to stop cross border tension?
Arguments:
- Yes. This is the only way to reduce the cross border terrorism and stop loss of innocent lives.
- No. Neighbouring countries cannot be relied upon in such matters, they may still engage in subversive activities.
Answer: Option
Explanation:
Clearly, peaceful settlement through mutual agreement is the best option, whatever be the issue. So, argument I holds strong. Moreover, the problem indicated in II can be curbed by constant check and vigilance. So, II seems to be vague.

W.r.t. argument 1: This states that dialogue is the only way to reduce cross-border terrorism and loss of innocent lives.
While dialogue is important and often necessary, saying it is the only way is too extreme.
Other measures (like surveillance, international pressure, and defence preparedness) can also contribute.
Hence, Argument I is weak because of the word "only".
The correct answer is none of these.

According to me, the correct answer is D.
See, India had so many talks with Pak & China about this. Still, there are issues. Also, ONLY word is used in Ar1. Certainly dialogue, talks should be conducted but this isn't the only way out.
So, Both arguments are weak!

@All.
I chose option B, because clearly our neighbours will never listen and solve case peacefully, if it did then India would not lost so many lives after the Shimla agreement, UN agreement, 1999 Lahore declaration and hundreds of other peaceful agreements.

According to me, Option A is wrong.

I chose option D as A is not the only way, but presumably its wrong.

I feel argument I uses keyword only which makes it weak argument because there can be other ways to reduce the cross border issue.
Hence I feel none of the above are strong arguments.
