Given 42, 40, 38, 35, 33, 31, 28.
Here the difference between 42 and 35 is 7 and 40 and 33 is 7 from above we can say that difference between two numbers having a gap of 2 digits is 7.
By this process, we get answers as 26,24
42-35 = 7.
40-33 = 7.
38-31 = 7.
35-28 = 7.
Now,
33 - 7 = 26.
31 - 7 = 24.

Which is 2*2, 2*3, 2*4, 2*5 so the next numbers will be 2*6 i.e. 12 and on adding 12 in 1054 we will get 1066.
So, the Next number which will come up is 1066.

The answer will be 20.
(38*2)+2 = 78
(78*2)-2 = 154
(154*2) = 2 = 310.
Therefore, the series starts from
(9*2) + 2 = 20.
