Directions to Solve
Read the question carefully and choose the correct answer.

11.
Nurse Kemp has worked more night shifts in a row than Nurse Rogers, who has worked five. Nurse Miller has worked fifteen night shifts in a row, more than Nurses Kemp and Rogers combined. Nurse Calvin has worked eight night shifts in a row, less than Nurse Kemp. How many night shifts in a row has Nurse Kemp worked?
eight
nine
ten
eleven
Answer: Option
Explanation:
Nurse Kemp has worked more shifts in a row than Nurse Calvin; therefore, Kemp has worked more than eight shifts. The number of Kemp's shifts plus the number of Rogers's shifts (five) cannot equal fifteen or more, the number of Miller's shifts. Therefore, Kemp has worked nine shifts in a row (5 + 9 = 14).

Clearly written that Nurse Calvin has worked eight-night shifts in a row, less than Nurse Kemp, it means Nurse kemp has done 9-night shifts.

Nurse Miller has worked fifteen-night shifts in a row, more than Nurses Kemp and Rogers combined which is 15.Nurse Calvin has worked eight-night shifts in a row, less than Nurse Kemp. And Nurse Rogers, who has worked five.

Rogers = 5.
Caving = 8.
Miller = 15 (Rogers 5 + Kemp x).
So,
To get Kemp = Miller 15 - Rogers 5 = 10.
Which is greater than Caving 8.
So have to be 10.

The answer is 11 because Miller(15) has worked more than Kemp and Rogers combined. If we choose 10, then 10+5 = 15 which is not right. So choose 11, 11+5 = 16 > 15.

The answer is 9 on the fact that :

Nurse Rogers = 5.
Nurse Calvin = 8.

Nurse Kemp is more than Calvin and Rogers so definitely more than Rogers and Calvin. So here its gonna be more than 8.

Also Given, Nurse Miller has worked fifteen night shifts in a row, more than Nurses Kemp and Rogers combined.

Nurse Miller(15) > Kemp and Rogers Combined(Kemp + Rogers),
Nurse Miller (15) = x + Kemp + Rogers.

So it can't be 10,11 or 8 as it contradicts the previous values and x must have a value more than zero.

So from options, the possible result is 9.
