Logical Reasoning - Logical Problems - Discussion

Each problem consists of three statements. Based on the first two statements, the third statement may be true, false, or uncertain.

7.

All the tulips in Zoe's garden are white.
All the pansies in Zoe's garden are yellow.
All the flowers in Zoe's garden are either white or yellow
If the first two statements are true, the third statement is

[A]. true
[B]. false
[C]. uncertain

Answer: Option C

Explanation:

Why it is uncertain I need it to be clear :).

C is right answer because first two statements are describing about a particular type of flower not bout all the flower in the garden.

Information about any other kinds of flowers cannot be determined.

Yes this is uncertain because they asked about all the flowers and not a tulips and pansies.

Is there any condition that a garden must contain more than 2 variety of plants.

If a garden need not contain more than two varieties of plants. Then the above condition i.e., the third statement must be true know?

Since the Zoe's Garden is mentioned with the two categories of flower bearing plants, it is necessarily, that the 3rd statement should be right !

We don't know about the other flowers which is Zoe's garden and we have only two flowers information so the answer would be uncertain.

The assumptions can be made only as per the given statements.

We can't assume the real condition. If there are only two flowers in the garden, then option A is right.

We can assume only as per the given statements. The real conditions cannot be brought here for a test.

There can also be a chance there may be only two flowers in the garden which make the statement TRUE.

Why it is uncertain because there are only two kinds of flowers either white or yellow. So I think option A is right.

Please Someone make it clear to me.

Thirds statement depicts all flower families.

But above two statements mention about only tulips and pansies.

So we can't say that only these two kinds of flowers present in that garden.

They said only about two type of flowers but it is not describing all the flowers so I think it's "C".

Chetan said: (May 8, 2018)
Option C is the correct answer because in first two line it says a particular flower colour.
