Ovation would be like suppose someone gets a life time achievement award and so all of the audience stood up while generally we wouldn't stand up for a musical award or something like that (exceptions not included) standing up or just giving respect to someone in a manner that can be observed is called giving an ovation in the example that I gave in the starting we call it a STANDING OVATION.
