Logical Reasoning - Course of Action - Discussion

Discussion Forum : Course of Action - Section 2 (Q.No. 6)
Directions to Solve

In each question below is given a statement followed by two courses of action numbered I and II. You have to assume everything in the statement to be true and on the basis of the information given in the statement, decide which of the suggested courses of action logically follow(s) for pursuing.

Give answer

  • (A) If only I follows
  • (B) If only II follows
  • (C) If either I or II follows
  • (D) If neither I nor II follows
  • (E) If both I and II follow.

Statement: Footpaths of a busy road are crowded with vendors selling cheap items.

Courses of Action:

  1. The help of police should be sought to drive them away.
  2. Some space should be provided to them where they can earn their bread without blocking footpaths.

Only I follows
Only II follows
Either I or II follows
Neither I nor II follows
Both I and II follow
Answer: Option
Crowding on footpaths is a great inconvenience for walkers. So, stern action needs to be taken to remove the vendors. But at the same time these people ought to be provided alternative means of livelihood. So, both the courses follow.

When you will shift them then footpath will become empty automatically. What will be the role of the police? That makes 1st sentence nullify.

Anyone please explain it.

It should be B.

In the statment given in the question only one conclusion can be followed at a time because both of them are opposite course of action and can't be implemented together so option (C) is more suitable in comparison to (E).
