Logical Reasoning - Course of Action - Discussion
Discussion Forum : Course of Action - Section 3 (Q.No. 33)
Directions to Solve
In each question below is given a statement followed by three courses of action numbered I, II and III. You have to assume everything in the statement to be true, then decide which of the three given suggested courses of action logically follows for pursuing.
33.
Statement: Large number of people have become critically ill after consuming spurious liquor from a local shop.
Courses of Action:
- I. The Government should immediately close down all the shops selling liquor till the stocks are tested for presence of toxicity.
- II. The owner of the liquor shop should be asked to leave the town and open a shop elsewhere.
- III. The owner of the liquor shop should immediately be arrested and tried for criminal negligence.
Answer: Option
Explanation:
Clearly, the owner of the shop should be punished for selling spurious liquor. Further, attempts should be made to unearth other such unscrupulous liquor sellers by conducting raids and testing samples collected from different shops. So, both II and III follow. However, sending the liquor shop owner to another place may create a problem elsewhere also. So, II does not follow.

Making tests in other shops is logical, but closing all of them is not proportional. It could be proportional if the statement was about all shops in the district or all in the town. But Government is country authority, so closing all shops implies all in the country - this is strange.
Hence I disagree with the statement.
Hence I disagree with the statement.

Answer should be C as it is not possible to immediately close down all the liquor shops.

I think closing all the shops down for something local is a bit over reacting. If it was stated that only local shops would be shut down that would be different. Since its not we have to assume that all the shops have to be shot down.

I m satisfied by your answer but if all shops will be closed down then fraudies will get alerted, some will flew, some will bribe & some innocent will be workless, so your answer is not fully completed.
Thank you.
Thank you.
