Hard work gives you experience.
Smart work comes with experience.
There is no smart work without hard work.
Example:
When I started learning Java, I did hard work—practising daily, fixing errors.
That gave me experience.
Now, with that experience, I do smart work—write better code in less time.
So, smart work became possible because of hard work.

Hard work means when you doing any work with physically without using mental thoughts, without using right direction, right calculation and without looking the main requirement!
Smart Work means adding mentally thought process and taking less physically time and doing with the right direction, right calculation and looking the main requirement!

Hard work is something which takes more physical effort and also you not sure that the work will go right or wrong. But on the other hand smart work is work which needs less energy, and the output we get is more fruity. Smart work is the wholesome presence of mind at the place.
I'll make sure that I will do both the things in the right places.

Basically, I don't particularly have a preference but I think smart work comes from hard work. One hand smart work is the way to do the task in a convenient way.
On the other hand, Hard work dedicating long hours to get it done.
I always analyze if smart work can be applied to a particular task if not I will give my 100% to complete the task.

The main difference is that in hard work we start putting in efforts without really thinking a course for our action while smart work is thinking about the course of our action and then working hard. So both involve hard work but smart work involves a much more direct approach where you concentrate your hard work directly to achieve your goal.

According to me,
Hard work means Completing minimum work with maximum time and maximum cost. (Effective work: Work completed on time but incurs high cost).
Whereas smart work refers to completing maximum work in minimum time and in minimum cost i.e.(Effective and efficient work means completing work on time or before time with less cost).

I have 10rs and I want to go to a place which will cost me 20rs if I go by bus or we can go there by walking. That is hard work.
I will go by bus halfway and then I will go by walking that is smart work.
We can finish our work by our efforts is referred as hard work.
If we finish it with less time and efforts that will be a smart work.

Hard work means handling things patiently and it usually takes place with certain set defined rules and regulations while smart work means handling things tactfully and instantaneously. Hard work is usually practised when a person has ample time and smart work is usually practised when the work needs to be done in less amount of time.

Hard work shows that the person is trying hard to achieve a particular goal or aim and smart work is nothing more than achieving the goal but in an efficient way. At last, the most important thing to be taken care is that only a hard-working person can lead to smart work as only he will know the most efficient way to achieve the goal.

Sir, I would like to give an example- consider if X amount of work is done in particular time then the same amount of work could be achieved in less time with the help of some ideas or modification in process. Which will not only reduces the time and load but also increase s efficiency? And that is the main difference between both.
