According to me both are same.

When you work hard in any field, then only you can be able to work smartly in that field.

My view is that.

If we apply only physical power to achieve our goal can say hard work but if we apply both both physical and mental power to achieve a goal can say smart work.

For example.

If our goal is to cut a tree but if we cut a branch of a tree then it is said to be hard work but if we cut directly the base of the tree can say smart work.

Smart work saves a lot of time rather than hard work.

If you give the job to me I will put my hard work for your company. If you don't give the oppertunity do work with your company I will give my strategies to your best competitors this called smart work.

Hard work is the way of working where someone said you do it this way no matter that is taking time but smart worker will see correct and less time consumable way of working. EG: You need to carry something heavy where you can ask for help would be smart move rather carrying it alone.

Sir for ex. If I had to open a lock and I don't have the key to open it. The time I used a hammer to open it will be called as hard work. But instead if I can use a hand cutter to cut the lock. It will be considered a smart work.
