Both words are completely relatable to each other. Difference being in the fact that I hardwork despite of all the energy, time, mindset what we incorporate for the particular aim is their, but in smart work these things come up with prioritisation and ofcourse, how to save time, money and labour.

Smart work gives a way to think something new and different from others. On the other hand, hard work requires more effort with less plannings which can be common for many people.
