The main problem with India is it's poverty. If we analyse the ratio nearly 40% is still under poverty line and thus illiteracy still exists. In order to curb the ever increasing population we need to encourage literacy so that people get to know the cons of increasing population. Government has a big role to play by spreading the word. India should become more open rather than being confined to their traditions and speak about protected sex, contraceptives in the open. Only then India has a chance to remain second to China else it will be the leader in population a fact which we wont be proud of.

Two in every three in this discussion attributed the rise in population to the lack of awareness among the uneducated/villagers. One of them opined that rich can have three or more children, as they have money or resources to bring them up.
But, by saying this are we not forgetting the importance of saving 'Resources'. Be it for the present generation or for the future generation. If every rich person thinks the same way and go for three or more children, then do you really think the population can be controlled? The catch here is the rise in standard of living. Don't you guys think everyone now can be able to raise two or more children at ease?
Talking about democracy/ rights at the cost of exploiting resources is what we are discussing here, if one scrutinize every comment.

Hi, friends as we all know that the population of our country is increasing day by day. So, the people's attitude towards marriage, family size and child birth must change before we can hope to achieve a substantial decline in the birth rate. According to 2001 census, the total population of Andhra pradesh was nearly 7,50,000.
Broadly speaking, there are three general and main causes for increase in the population of a country.
-> High birth rate.
-> Relatively lower death rate.
-> Immigration.
Population explosion is one of the obstacles for the development of the economy. So, the government has to take remedial measures to decrease the population explosion like removal of poverty poor people have virtually no interest in limiting the size of their families. Living in poor conditions they are habitual to laziness so, they are depending on their children earnings if they have more children they can earn more.
So the attitude of the people towards the population must change. People should have more knowledge about family planing. And another thing is the education also brings down the population.

Increasing population is a major problem mankind in our country. They don't know the side effect of raising population. We must implement 1-2 children policy in our India. To stop we must do as: 1. Teachers should give awareness to villagers. 2. Government start food, medical and education at low cost for girls.

Population explosion is a big hindrance in the pathway of development for countries like India where most stereoscopic rural people don't comprehend the worth of education and sustainable development. For some woman is merely a child producing country.
We have already exploited the nature and its resources to a great extent its a high time to concern that nature has its own system of recovery. Also it obstructs economic development. Poor people consider children as a supplement to their meager income. Govt large resources which would have been utilized for scientific enhancement are diverted to satisfy the needs of such people through various policies.

I am totally disagreed with your opinion which says there is nothing wrong in having more children if one have enough money to bear them up with better quality. We are trying to control population so that every living individual should live in a good social and economical atmosphere. No matter how much money they have. There children will take his share of resources. So being capable of bearing up can't be seen as a reason that they don't have any responsibility in controlling population.

I believe that increasing population of India is surely a grave problem and it needs attention but not by implementing laws that force people to go for one child, after all its a free democratic country and people should have the freedom of deciding their way of life. If a wealthy person can afford to educate and provide for 3 kids whats wrong with him having 3 ? the fundamental solution is to educate people about birth control methods and provide special govt privileges to people with one child. Not by punishing people who have more than 1. Also government should take care to avoid child marriages and educate people about art of life. Abortion should not be encouraged as each and every human life is a gift of god and deserves to live. So prevention is better than cure. And it should be by free will just like Australia and Canada and not by imposing it upon the citizens harshly like China.

Hi friends, I would like to add some more points to our discussion. Some of our friends have suggested for one child policy to be implemented in India. But don't you think the mental health of that child will be effected a lot? He/she might be feeling alone and might not be able to share emotions or feelings with anyone. So I think that two children in a family is a better idea than having a single child. Secondly when we talk about food crisis, can't we use latest technologies or invent some new techniques to increase our production of crops? Earlier farmers used to grow one crop in a field now they are able to grow two or more crops in a single field which signifies the efficient use of the land and also increase in food. Thirdly I would like to add a point regarding creating awareness among the people especially the illiterate people. The awareness should be in such a way that people are made narrow minded so that the gender bias is eliminated and even the policies of government could be implemented effectively.

HI FRIENDS,
Population explosion is the biggest problem mankind is facing today. All the other social and economical problems are directly related to increasing population. Population explosion is the biggest problem mankind is facing today. All the other social and economical problems are directly related to increasing population. Main reason of increasing population in our country is illiteracy. There is no awareness among the people of our country. What we can do to stop increase population.
1. Government must start a awareness programme in villages to reduce population.
2. Provide facilities like food, medical, education at low cost to only those families in which there are 1-2 children. Those who has more than 2 children are dismissed from the scheme.
3. Provide a education specially to girl children.
4. Government should take a help of teachers & other government employees to spread a awareness.
5. Road shows. Banners, skits, advertisement on radio, on television with the help of popular person (like icon for plus polio is mr. Amitabh bacchan) that advertisement create history we are now polio free country, may same we can experience in the case of population.
