Hi Friends,
I hope you're doing well and staying safe.
I'm here with my new readings towards Engineers. Engineers design, evaluate, test, modify, install, inspect, maintain a wide product of variety and systems. Engineers apply the principles of science and mathematics to develop economical solutions to technical problems. Their work is the link between scientific discoveries and commercial applications that meet societal and consumer needs. Many engineers develop new products.
There are now six major branches of engineering: Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, Electrical, Management, and Geotechnical, and literally hundreds of different subcategories of engineering under each branch.
Engineers thrive for fixing things and try to modify the existing procedure to make it faster. There are great Indian Engineers we've had seen who worked phenomenal for the growth of Indians and make every one of us proud.
Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya: He was a notable Indian engineer, scholar, statesman, and the Diwan of Mysore from 1912 to 1918.
Satish Dhawan: He is known as the father of experimental fluid dynamics research in India.
Dr. Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam(APJ Abdul Kalam): He is known as the missile man of India. He also served as 11th President of India from 2002 to 2007.
E. Sreedharan: He is known as the Metro Man of India.
Raghuram Govind Rajan: He was the 23rd Governor of the Reserve Bank of India. He was also the chief economist at the International Monetary Fund from 2003 to 2007.
Sundar Pichai: Pichai joined Google in 2004 and currently, he is Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Google Inc.
Nagavara Ramaroa Narayana Murthy: He is an Indian IT industrialist and the co-founder of Infosys.
Verghese Kurien: He is also known as the Father of the White Revolution in India.
Satyanarayan Gangaram Pitroda: He is popularly known as the Father of India's Computer and IT Revolution as he helped Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi in bringing computerization as an advisor to the PM. He was also an advisor to the PM during Dr. Manmohan Singh's tenure.
So as we see that there are great engineers who worked hard to change the social structure we live in and they helped us to live a comfortable life we living in.
In my opinion, Engineers played a very important role in Disaster management. Disaster management which is popularly known as Emergency management. It is a discipline that involves preparing, supporting and rebuilding when natural or human-made disasters occur. The aim is to reduce the harmful effects of all hazards, including disasters.
Thanks.
I hope you're doing well and staying safe.

Role of the engineer in disaster management.
Engineers reflect the intellect of a country, an engineer is exposed to various disciplines of science like electricity, magnetism, mechanics, computing, etc. He is a production unit by himself, when he attempts to create a new product while doing so he must keep in mind various disastrous that can occur in case of any misconception.
Disasters can be human, material, economic or environmental. Once occurred will leave a large impact on the lives of people.
For example;
1. Incident of leakage in LG polymers at Vishakapatnam,
There was a leakage of styrene gas at 3 o clock in the morning, which spread the whole city and has taken many lives. The engineers would have been well informed of the leakage issues and apt troubleshooting processes.
2. Bhopal gas tragedy,
This issue is well known all over the country, leak of iso-cyanate led to a disastrous situation where people have to leave their homes and the area was not fit for living for a prolonged period of time. It has affected soil, air, water in that area.
There are various examples as such, if an engineer is well informed and cautioned about the disasters and educated on disaster management it can help in lessening the impact of the disaster. Few disaster management techniques can be,
1. Regular inspection of the working condition of equipment, proper shutdown.
2. Knowing the climate changes, regularly following the updates of the weather forecast.
3. Performing rigorous tests at lab scale for various combinations possible before implementing at large scale.
4. Implementing stances like zero waste, on site wastewater treatment, treatment of acid sludge's etc.
5. Regular checks on assets and liabilities and regular formulation of income and balance sheets, can hamper the risks of economic disasters.

Well as everyone said in this discussion, engineers play a great role not only in today's society but since many years. Having a great safe sleep under the fan or AC in a completely protected room could have not been possible without engineers. There could have been no developed communication facilities without an IT or Computer engineer, there won't be any transportation without an Automobile engineer, without an electronic and mechanical engineer having a comfortable sleep will be a dream. Even though doctors save us, engineering principles had enhanced the positive results of an operation.
Coming to the point, "role of engineers in disaster management", many road accidents have been reduced due to improved technology like sensors etc.
Having a prototype of a building or vehicle or machine before creating actual models, with the help of design software has reduced or maybe eliminated many risk factors. Thanks to those design engineers.
In my personal experience, Still, there is a major concern that most people in some rural areas are thinking that engineering is worthless and are stopping their children from choosing this awesome degree.
Thank you!

Good evening all of you.
I think there is the main role of the engineer in disaster management compare to others. Because the engineer has the abilities to predict the climate condition by there knowledge and the help of technology and instruments. So because of this, we can able to be ready to face that particular disaster. For example, in last month there was a prediction of cyclon. That cyclone will affect south Gujarat so the government was transferred the people to safe zone from the zone where cyclon effects. So likewise this the prediction of an earthquake is also more important and that can do by engineers and also if the earthquake and any other disaster will damage the developing things to compensate for that development the engineer is needed. For example for the construction of roads and building civil engineer is needed. For railway damages, mechanical engineers needed etc. But as the technology goes on increases day by day the engineer trying to come up with different things. For example, civil engineers are constructing the earthquake-proof building. So before the disaster and after the disaster, they are the major role of engineer.

Hello everyone, I am glad to get this opportunity to express my view on the topic: "Role of Engineers in Disaster Management".
Engineers are the pillars of civilization. The main role of engineers is to implement science in real life for the betterment of society. When it comes to disaster management, engineers can play a very vital role. Technologies are developing each and every day. Now, we can be able to know the advance forecast of any type of disasters or natural calamities and according to that forecast we can take preventive measures. This has become possible for scientists and engineers. Sometimes the effect of the disaster becomes really terrible and tragic. Electric posts fall and the entire area can not get electricity. On that time Engineers are the one and only solution. Besides, many houses are broken, trees are uprooted, for all those cases Engineers can give proper solutions. So, I conclude by saying that Engineers are the only persons who can rotate the wheel of civilization and present a better world in front of us.

Hello, everyone. Today's topic delves into a critical aspect of disaster management: the role of engineers. Engineers play a pivotal role in preparing for, responding to, and recovering from various types of disasters. Engineers contribute their technical expertise to assess vulnerabilities in infrastructure, design resilient structures, and develop systems that can withstand natural and man-made disasters.
Their role starts even before a disaster occurs. Engineers participate in risk assessment and mitigation planning, identifying potential hazards and proposing measures to reduce their impact. And when a disaster strikes, engineers are essential in the immediate response phase. They help assess damage to buildings, bridges, and utilities, ensuring that emergency responders can access affected areas safely. Moreover, engineers are involved in the restoration and rebuilding efforts post-disaster. They design structures and utilities that are not only functional but also incorporate lessons learned to enhance resilience.
Thank you.

Hello everyone.
As we all know our everyday life is impossible without the work of an engineer. The shelter we live under, the transport we use, the roads we travel through, the machines we use, and communications channels all are available to us because of engineers.
Coming to our topic " Role of Engineers in disaster management", having an engineer at the site of disaster will be of great help to the disaster management team to rescue the survivors easily within less time. Because Engineers can give a better idea to rescue people from the collapsed buildings as they know more about buildings and their infrastructure. Not only an architect and a civil engineer ca help in disaster management but also others can help by their inventions and tools. Auto mobile engineers will know the power and right way to use those heavy vehicles, and the mechanical engineers will know the right way to use the tools to help in the rescue process.

Hello everyone, myself Kumar Aryan.
The topic of our discussion is "Role of Engineers in Disaster Management. " We can already see that Engineers are playing an important role in disaster management. Engineers specialized in different fields implementing their knowledge to predict the danger before. Environment and weather engineers are working on weather forecasting and analyzing this to get the probability of any climatic conditions that can happen in future thereby warning the people about the destruction that can happen and how to control the situation. Engineers also get the impact of earthquakes, and it's intensity over the region. Astronomical Engineers are also analyzing the rotation of the earth and things happening on the planetary level.
So, Engineers are doing great jobs in preventing the disaster from happening, thereby reducing the loss that can occur by these disasters.

I am Rakesh today's topic is the Role of Engineers in disaster management.
I want to suggest some point that shows how important engineer for our society. Before the accent year, there are so many disasters happen and many people die, some people lose their homes. I know this is not in our hands but what we can do preparation for that situation. But it is not possible earlier. But the good news is this is now possible we got information about any disaster so we can prepare for it this invention gives by our engineer. That's why an engineer is the backbone of our system. We everything doing traveling, calculation so many this is a big invention discovered by the engineer. Really proud of it. The engineer is the inventor for all discovery due to engineer we can estimate weather conditions and rain come or not we can also get it. I think they deserve a salute.
